Experience a one-of-a-kind, completely customized science learning opportunity. OMSI offers varied curricula for grades 1–12. OMSI staff can tailor the program to a particular concept or benchmark of your choice with living ecosystems and fresh air as teaching tools. It’s an experience your students will never forget. 5-day, 3-day, and single overnight programs are available.
Students are led by professional OMSI educators, in groups of 15, on 5-hour Field Study lessons and 1.5-hour Interest Group activities where they get up-close and personal with your customized topics. In between, there is time for rest and relaxation in cabins, and free-play recreation time. Days are packed full, from an optional walk before breakfast to an Evening Program and campfire after dinner. They walk away with hands-on experience with the science concepts of your choice, as well as the memories of exploring with their peers and their parents in the outdoors.
The Coastal Discovery Center at Camp Gray, located in the inspiring science hub of Newport, Oregon,is the brand new home of our longstanding coastal education programs. Nestled between the expansive dunes of South Beach and Yaquina Bay, there are numerous opportunities to explore the wide range of ecosystems on the Oregon Coast. On a walk straight from the cabin door to the beach, students can investigate the connections between ocean currents, geology, and ecological adaptation to better understand the web of life that depends on our one world-wide ocean. There are also options for day trips to rocky tide pools and inland waters.
