The Historical Conjurer

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle shared a special relationship with one of the magic world's most famous performers, Harry Houdini. Many historians believe that this connection may have influenced Conan Doyle's writings about Sherlock Holmes.

In celebration of the opening of The International Exhibition of Sherlock Holmes, join the Historical Conjurer, Professor DR Schreiber, as he explores the history behind the Conan Doyle and Houdini friendship and its falling out, and presents some of the scientific techniques employed by 19th century conjurers to deceive and entertain their audiences.

The Historical Conjurer will present three hands-on, magical performances at 11am, 1pm, and 3pm in the auditorium.
