OMSI has a very active team of volunteers who contribute their time and talents to support OMSI’s educational mission. OMSI volunteers gain new skills and experiences, meet interesting people and make a tremendous impact on OMSI visitors.

Maker Faire Volunteer - Sign up now for this one-time volunteer opportunity!

The Fourth Annual Portland Mini Maker Faire will be held at OMSI on September 12 and 13, and we need over 200 volunteers to make this event happen! Volunteers are needed in a variety of customer service roles, including staffing an information booth, handing out materials, checking people into the event and assisting makers.

Early Childhood Education Volunteer

Science Playground and Discovery Lab are OMSI's areas where young children are able to learn and explore in fun, educational settings. Volunteers assist parents and children in experiencing hands-on open-ended activities and exhibits, and assist staff in maintaining the space to ensure the safety of our youngest visitors and their families.

Our Application Process

Application Process:

The first step to becoming an OMSI Volunteer is to fill out our online application. Once we receive your application, we will contact you to set up an interview to discuss your interests and availability.

Group interviews are held monthly, and applications must be received by the Thursday before the interview session you would like to attend.
