Teen Science Alliance - Thinkineers

Program Description: Thinkineers is the first tier of the Teen Science Alliance, a new multi-tiered program for teens who are interested in science, teaching and gaining new experiences. Upon completion of the 60 hour Thinkineer program, members of the alliance can elect to volunteer in the museum, working with Science Educators to facilitate activities and demonstrations for OMSI visitors.

Requirements: Applicants must be entering high school in the fall or currently in high school.

Application Deadline:  There are three entry points to the Teen Science Alliance throughout the course of the year (fall, winter, summer). Applicants can apply at any time to be considered for the next cohort. The application deadline for summer is April 15, 2014.

Teen Science Alliance - Science Squad

Program Description: Science Squad is the second tier of the Teen Science Alliance.  Members of the Science Squad volunteer throughout the museum's halls and labs to facilitate demos for the public. Teens accepted into the Science Squad attend an orientation and commit to volunteering 100 hours of service on the museum floor on weekdays during summer vacation and school breaks and on the weekend during the academic year.

Requirements: Applicants must have completed the Rising Stars program and be currently enrolled in high school.

Teen Science Alliance - Peer Mentors

Program Description: Peer Mentors assist the Teen Science Alliance coordinator with the daily administration of the Thinkineers program. This includes assisting with material preparation and set-up, daily clean-up throughout the day, and working closely with new members of the Alliance to complete different science challenges.

Requirements: Applicants must have completed the Rising Stars program and be currently enrolled in high school.

Application Process

All interested teens must complete an online application and provide two references. Eligible candidates will complete an interview process shortly after the published application deadline.
