Here are some books we found to be helpful...

The Great American Balloon Book Bob Waligunda and Larry Sheehan, Prentice-Hall, Inc., 1981. An introduction to the sport of hot-air ballooning. Waligunda and Sheehan provide only an introduction to the sport, and don't discuss the science or detailed principles of ballooning. But they do write a nice overview of the history of the sport.

The Handy Science Answer Book Compiled by the Science and Technology Department of the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, Visible Ink, Press, 1994. Answers to over 1,200 interesting and fun questions about science. Some of the questions ask about the science we hear about most often, like "how does ozone benifit life on earth?" Other questions probe into less traveled scientific fields, but reveal interesting science, such as "why do nine-banded armadillos always have four offspring of the same gender?"
