Recent scientific “discoveries” have uncovered a revolutionary new building material that could change how we prepare for earthquakes – gingerbread! Come to OMSI and learn how buildings are designed to withstand quakes. Design, build and test your own quake proof gingerbread house. Put your tower on OMSI's shake table to see if it will survive “the Big One”?!

 

This workshop is suggested for ages 18+. Beer and wine will be available for purchase.

Foodstuffs in this lab will include common allergens such as wheat, soy, and eggs.

If you joined a Mars colony, what would your house look like? Come learn about different types of structures scientists have designed for future Mars missions, then design and build your own gingerbread Mars house to take home!

 

This workshop is suggested for ages 6+ with a parent and for ages 14+ without a guardian. Foodstuffs in this lab will include common allergens such as wheat, soy, and eggs.

 

Tickets are $25 per house; up to three people can work on each house.

Ninkasi Space Beer Dinner

Foodies and beer lovers, join us during World Space Week for another delicious dinner featuring Ninkasi’s second-edition of Ground Control, their bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout that was fermented with space-traveled yeast.

 

Enjoy a beer-pairing dinner created by Bon Appetit’s Executive Chef, Kit Zhu and hear from two Ninkasi experts, Ben Prescott, a Certified Cicerone and Ali Aasum, Communications Director.
