Why do bees dance?  Explore these questions with your child as we dissect flowers, learn about animals that pollinate, and discover ways we can help pollinators in our neighborhoods. Students will make and take home a native “flower bomb” to plant pollinator-attracting seeds.

Be A Naturalist

What does a naturalist do? What does an owl eat? Children discover answers to these questions and more as they practice science skills including observing and drawing, taking weights and measurements, and investigating specimens from the natural world. An owl pellet dissection is included and students take home their owl pellet artifacts.

Cow Eye Dissection

Cow Eye Dissection

Participants are led through the anatomy of the cow eye while finding out how this sensory organ allows us to see. This class is a follow-up to Squid Dissection. It is recommended that participants take the Squid Dissection Lab prior to Cow Eye Dissection. One cow eye per ticket, maximum two people per cow eye.

Fabulous Fossils

Fabulous Fossils

Handle an assortment of rocks and fossils to determine what a fossil actually is. Help clean a real 65-million-year-old
Triceratops and other fossils using professional tools and techniques. Make a copy of a Velociraptor claw to take
home. Allergy note: claws are made of flour.

Soap Making

Soap Making

Learn about reactions that go into making soap and make soap from scratch to take home!  Participants must wear clothing that completely covers their arms, legs, and feet.  One ticket per batch of soap, maximum three participants per ticket.  Recommended for ages 10 and up.

Make soap while learning about the reactions that go into making soap and why it is so great at cleaning! Participants must wear clothing that completely covers their arms, legs, and feet (no sandals or open-toed shoes) as we will be working with caustic substances. One ticket gets you all the ingredients necessary to make one pound of soap (about 6-8 bars), maximum three participants per ticket. Recommended for ages 10 and up.
