Group Minimums

Pre-registered group rates require at least 12 paid admissions per event and 2-week advance reservation. We are unable to accommodate requests to add additional events or sack lunch space at the time of check-in. No other discounts, passes or coupons (including OMSI memberships) can be utilized with group reservations. Any OMSI members in your group should be included in your attendance count and pay the group rates.

Attendance

It is important that you finalize your attendance count at least 14 days prior to your program. If you have fewer participants on the day of your program, OMSI will not offer any refunds. With advance notice, additional participants may be accommodated subject to availability. Please be prepared to confirm your attendance count upon arrival.

Chaperones

Please plan for an adult-to-student ratio of 1:5 for grades PreK-8 OR 1:10 for grades 9-12.

Payments

We require a deposit of 50% of the program cost or $500, whichever is less, for all programs. The deposit is due 30 days prior to your program date. The remaining balance will be due on the day of your program at check-in.

Cancellations/Refunds

You are responsible for the full program fee if you cancel less than 30 days prior to your program. Cancellations must be submitted in writing.

Group Nametags

We use nametags, not printed tickets, to admit preregistered groups to speed up the admission process. Each student and adult must arrive at OMSI wearing a nametag with the group's name only, not individual names.

Lunches & Storage

Reserve a 25-minute time slot in our sack lunch when you request a program. We provide bins for storing sack lunches, but we are unable to store backpacks and other personal belongings with lunches.

Parking

We will instruct drivers where to park buses after unloading in the front of the building. Pre-registered groups arriving in cars or vans can park in the OMSI parking lots for free, but must register their parking space numbers at the Front Desk or Concierge Window upon arrival.

OMSI Science Store

The Science Store offers a variety of educational toys, games, books and gadgets, with many under $5. Teachers with school identification receive a 10% discount, some exclusions apply.

Motion Simulator

Tickets are $5 per person, available on-site or online. No reservations are required. A group rate of $4 per person is available for groups of 12 or more.

OMSI Preview

Educators may visit OMSI’s exhibit halls and labs free of charge when planning curriculum in conjunction with a visit to OMSI. Simply present a current form of school identification at the membership window.

Sub-ins & Camp-ins

Outdoor School

Experience a one-of-a-kind, hands-on, outdoor-based science learning opportunity. OMSI offers two regional outdoor school sites with varied curricula for grades K-12 for overnight programs and day trips. Groups provide transportation, chaperones at a 1:8 ratio and lunch on the first day. Options include single-day, 2-day, 3-day, 4-day and 5-day programs.

Traveling Programs

Our science educators are ready to come to your school for exciting classes, labs, assemblies, and more.

Teacher Participation

Your participation during the programs is important. Talk with the educator in advance about specifically how you can be involved.

Getting Ready

Before we arrive, make sure to review the room and set-up requirements listed in your confirmation materials.

Preparation

As an introduction to the OMSI program you have requested, we recommend that you do some activities with your class before we arrive. Hands-on activities will familiarize your students with the science topic we will be presenting, as well as acquaint them with science concepts relevant to the topic. Most of our programs come with both pre and post activities in the confirmation materials.

Nametags

Please have your students wear nametags. This helps our educators engage more personally with your students.
