REPTILE AND AMPHIBIAN SHOW
Saturday-Monday, September 4-6, 2010, 9:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Crawl, creep, and slither your way to one of the largest gatherings of reptiles and amphibians in the Pacific Northwest when OMSI presents the Reptile and Amphibian Show, Labor Day weekend, Sept. 4-6, 2010. Over 100 exotic animals will be on display at this popular event, including a large variety of captive-bred snakes, lizards, turtles, alligators, and more.
The show will feature a special hands-on area where several dozen nonvenomous reptiles and amphibians will be available for supervised interaction. Experts will be available throughout the weekend to answer questions about these amazing and often misunderstood creatures.
Special activities are scheduled throughout the weekend! Ask the Vet! Saturday, September 4, 11:00 a.m.—2:00 p.m. in Classroom 1: Veterinarian Dr. Mark Burgess will answer all your questions about keeping and caring for reptiles. He'll discuss which reptiles make good pets and why; common diseases in turtles, snakes, and lizards; and more! Dr. Burgess is a veterinarian at the Southwest Animal Hospital and has focused his professional career on the treatment of "exotic" animals.
Pancake Tortoises Sunday, September 5, 11:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m. in Classroom 1: Dr. Rosemary Lombard brings her pancake tortoises and shares her research on these fascintating creatures. Find out what they eat, where they live, and what they've been able to learn with the assistance of Dr. Lombard.
Venomous Reptiles Monday, September 6, Noon—3:00 p.m. in Classroom 1: Special presentations by House of Reptiles on venemous reptiles. Learn about what makes these animals different and how venom is being used in everyday life.
The Reptile and Amphibian Show is included with museum admission. There is no additional cost to attend.
Do you want to show off the cool color of your snake, the speed of your turtle, the high jump of your frog, or your lizard with a missing tail?
We are looking for reptile and amphibian owners and enthusiasts of all ages to participate in the show and share their expertise with the public. Whether you choose to volunteer as an exhibitor, a handler, or both, we guarantee you will have a blast! All participants will receive a commemorative 2010 Reptile and Amphibian Show t-shirt.

Set-up for the event will take place on Friday, September 3 from Noon-6:00 p.m. Please note that there will be mandatory training sessions held in August prior to the show. All exhibitors and handlers must attend one of these meetings in order to participate.
