OMSI Science Store begins remodel
The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) has received a $395,000 grant from the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust to renovate the OMSI Science Store and OMNIMAX Dome Theater. The upgrades to these popular OMSI attractions will improve the experience for OMSI visitors and increase earned revenues to help support OMSI’s mission of creating engaging science learning experiences.

OMSI OFFERS A MUSEUM EVENING FOR ADULTS WITH
OMSI AFTER DARK
Ever wanted to push the buttons on that cool exhibit at OMSI but can’t get a chance because kids are having all the fun with it? Perhaps you’d like to enjoy a glass of wine as you peruse ancient dinosaur bones from China? Or discuss the science of brewing with a local brewer? Now you can do all that and more at OMSI After Dark, a museum evening geared for the 21 and over crowd complete with appetizers, wine, beer, and science fun!

OMSI BECOMES NATION’S FIRST SCIENCE MUSEUM TO EARN
SALMON-SAFE CERTIFICATION
The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) has been awarded Salmon-Safe certification by Salmon-Safe, an independent non-profit organization. Salmon-Safe offers the nation’s first and only peer-reviewed certification program linking land management practices with the protection of urban watersheds. The certification follows an extensive on-site inspection of the OMSI facilities by expert inspectors to verify the property is designed and managed to protect water quality and fish habitat. OMSI is the first science museum in the country to be awarded the Salmon-Safe certification.

OMSI HOSTS RECEPTION FOR ASTRONOMY CALENDAR PHOTO CONTEST WINNERS JUNE 20
PORTLAND, OR (June 9, 2008) OMSI will announce the winners of its first-ever astronomy photo contest during a special reception on Friday, June 20, from 5:00-6:00p.m. outside OMSI's Harry C. Kendall Planetarium. Refreshments will be served, and the 12 winning photos, ¬one grand prize and 11 honorable mentions, will be on display. The 2009 “Stellar Skies” calendar, in which the winning photos appear, will be available at a discount at the event. Following the reception, the calendar will be available for purchase in the OMSI Science Store and online at www.omsi.edu for $13.99

OMSI PRESENTS 43rd ANNUAL SHELL SHOW JUNE 19-22
Portland, OR (June 3, 2008)—View rare and beautiful shells from around the world at the 43rd Annual Shell Show, presented by the Oregon Society of Conchologists (OSC) and hosted by the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) June 19-22 in the OMSI Auditorium. Entrance to the show is included with paid museum admission.

WATCH NASA’S MARS LANDING LIVE AT OMSI
The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) will offer space exploration enthusiasts a front-row seat for NASA’s Phoenix Lander touch down on Mars. Scheduled for May 25 at 4:36 p.m. PDT, Phoenix will parachute from orbit and touch down on the outskirts of Mars' northern polar ice cap, joining the Mars exploration rovers Spirit and Opportunity.
