Curriculum for Teachers

Expedition Northwest is an expedition-based, interdisciplinary curriculum, concentrating on scientific inquiry and technology. The objective of the program is to provide standards-based curriculum with content across the sciences (Life Science, Earth Science, Physical Science). A second key objective is to include social studies, math, and technology connections to better prepare our students for the workforce of tomorrow. As the name implies, the program has a regional focus and is designed for 4th - 8th grade students living in Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Montana.

WATER, WATER EVERYWHERE

The thematic framework of this program focuses on water and how it connects landscapes, people and ecosystems across the Northwest...from glaciers, to rivers, to oceans; from ancient floods to power generation.

Expedition Northwest offers exciting multimedia options including new digital labs, online sharing of data, live and video-on-demand researcher presentations, teacher message boards and weekly podcasts answering student questions. All these things are accessed through OMSI's Distance Learning Center.
