Introducing Engineer It!
Note: Use this to introduce any of the following classroom activities.

These activities are designed to assist teachers in preparing their students for a visit to the Engineer It! exhibit. All of the activities are:
- aligned to the AAAS benchmarks
- classroom tested
- easy to follow
- designed to use easy-to-find materials
- each has the following sections:
- activity description
- grade level
- science topics list
- key science skills list
- time required
- supplies list (what you'll need)
- advanced preparation (do this first!)
- getting ready
- introducing the activity (why do this?)
- student procedure (what to do) (teacher-guided step-by-step instructions for younger students, or can be given to older students to follow)
- class discussion (stuff to talk about) (ideas to guide teacher-lead discussion to wrap up the activity)
- explanation (what's happening?) (a more detailed explanation of the scientific concepts)
- optional extensions (more stuff to do!)
- cross curricular integration (how it all fits in)
- student handouts
- supplies worksheet
Check with the staff of the science center or science museum prior to your classroom visit about your students' use of the exhibit to test models they have made in the classroom. The following exhibit test stations could be used to test student models:
