Education is the key to doing anything cool.
Astronaut and OMSI kid Dr. Donald Pettit in a live video broadcast from the International Space Station
Do you remember the first time you walked through OMSI's doors and
gazed in wonder at all the sights before you? Remember the excitement
you felt when you explored all the hands-on exhibits, dug for a fossil,
peered through a microscope, and traveled to the edges of the galaxy in
the planetarium? You're not alone. OMSI has been inspiring children of all
ages for almost 60 years. It started with the dream of one man, John C.
Stevens, who inspired a community to create a center for exploring,
discovering, and learning. Over the years, many people have had a
hand in OMSI's success and the museum has grown from a one-room
display to a state-of-the-art facility that serves over a million people
each year. But keeping the dream alive for future generations requires
your generous support. The cost of providing our vital science education
programs cannot be completely funded through admissions and fees and
there is a growing need for individual and school scholarships.
Your generous financial support ensures that future generations will have
a place to go where they can expand their world, challenge their thinking,
and reach for the stars. OMSI's founder, J. C. Stevens, showed us that
one man can make a difference, and you can, too. Share the wonder of
OMSI and help us provide the inspiration for the next teacher, doctor,
astronaut, explorer, or scientist.
