Grades K-1 Class Descriptions
At the Seashore

Dive into oceanography and make waves as we explore how land and water
come together at the seashore. We’ll take a close-up look at sand and the fascinating variety of seashells that can be found along the Oregon shore and elsewhere. We’ll investigate fish, whales and other mysterious creatures of the sea; walk inside a model of a 50-foot whale; and take an exciting field trip to the Stellar Cove exhibit at the Oregon Zoo.

Birds, Beaks, & Bugs

Can all birds fly? Is a bald eagle really bald? Where do insects live? How are a spider and an ant different? Kids become amateur entomologists and ornithologists as we explore creatures of air, land and pond. We’ll visit the Oregon Zoo’s insect and avian residents, make bird feeders, and learn how to invite beneficial and beautiful wildlife into our own backyards.
