Accessibility & Services
We are dedicated to making OMSI accessible to everyone and to making your museum experience comfortable and enjoyable. Staff and volunteers are available throughout the museum to assist you. They can be identified by their OMSI photo ID badges.
Wheelchair Accessibility
Wheelchairs are available through the entrance gate to the left of the Ticket Desk and are available on a first-come, first-served basis at no charge. A form of ID is required as a deposit.
Exhibit Halls and Labs
All exhibit and lab areas are wheelchair accessible. While all exhibits and labs are visual, many have additional auditory or tactile components that invite visitor participation. Staff are available to assist visitors in all exhibit and lab areas.
OMNIMAX Dome Theater 503.797.4640 From the lobby, follow the hallway toward the Market Cafe to the elevator at your left. Take the elevator to the second floor. Follow the hallway toward the restrooms. Signs are posted to direct visitors. Please wait for an usher to escort you into the theater. The OMNIMAX Dome Theater can accommodate eight visitors with wheelchairs. Scripts of films available upon request.
Kendall Planetarium 503.797.4610 The planetarium can accommodate four visitors with wheelchairs. Scripts for presentations are available upon request.
Submarine 503.797.4624 Due to vertical, ladder emergency escape routes and the unique nature of the submarine, there is no access for visitors with wheelchairs or strollers beyond the public dock. A video tour is located inside the museum for all visitors. Scripts of tours are available upon request.
Parking There are eight accessible parking spaces available including two van-accessible spaces. Visitors may be dropped off and picked up at the loading area in front of the museum's main entrance. Parking is $2; FREE for members.
Entrance The barrier-free entrance to OMSI is located at the far right hand side of the main entrance. This door is fully accessible with push button entry.
Other Services If a visitor with a disability is accompanied by a professional aide, the aide's museum admission is free. One aide per visitor. Service animals are welcome throughout the entire museum.
An ATM is located in the hallway toward the OMNIMAX Dome Theater, past the Science Store entrance on the right.
Restaurants OMSI's Market Cafe is located on the first floor past the Featured Exhibit Hall. The waterfront cafe features a menu based on seasonality and availability of fresh foods from the region including fruit smoothies, made-from-scratch soups, made-to order salads, sandwiches and pasta dishes and a taqueria, as well as a grab-and-go case packed with freshly made sandwiches and salads. Accessible seating is available throughout the Cafe. A smaller Market Express is located just outside the OMNIMAX Dome Theater lobby and features coffee drinks and grab-and-go treats.

Bus Routes Several TriMet bus routes pass near OMSI. Additionally, the OMSI TriMet Shuttle makes 10 minute trips to OMSI from the Convention Center MAX station, and is wheelchair-accessible. This service will run through September 12, 2009, 9:30 a.m.–7:30 p.m. For the latest information about TriMet routes and schedules, please call TriMet customer service at 503.238.RIDE or visit the TriMet website.
